U.S. and China have 'fundamental disagreements', says Mike Pompeo

Yi criticized Pompeo for the USA government's actions towards Taiwan, claiming that Washington is interfering in Chinese affairs. "Progress made on Singapore Summit Agreements! And this letter was further evidence of progress in that relationship".
Responding to Wang's remarks on Monday, Pompeo said: "The issues that you characterised, we have fundamental disagreements".
The announcement Sunday came shortly after Pompeo arrived in Seoul, following his fourth visit to North Korea, where he met with Kim. A series of diplomatic understandings on Taiwan - in which the Communist Party tolerates American weapons sales while the USA accepts Beijing as the capital of "one China" - underpin more than four decades of relations between the two sides.
Following Pompeo's latest trip to the Korean Peninsula, Trump and Kim are "close" to finalizing details for a second summit.
The official firstly made it clear that Pompeo's preferred translator was not welcome at the talks, according to Bloomberg citing a pool reporter traveling with Pompeo. He pledged the Trump administration would coordinate and unify its strategy for denuclearisation with its allies.
"In addition, the possibility of a North Korea-Japan summit is open".
"North Korea took some steps towards denuclearisation and the United States will face criticism from the worldwide community if it continues to demand complete denuclearisation without any lifting of sanctions", said Yang Moo-jin, a professor at the University of North Korean Studies in Seoul.

Wang expressed his hope that Pompeo's Beijing visit would play a positive role in supporting healthy bilateral ties.
Rising tensions have fueled concern in Beijing and Washington that the president's trade fight could, if left unchecked, foster a new Cold War between the two countries. "That is a necessary component of getting to the best deliverable".
Pompeo said this could happen "as soon as we get it logistically worked out", adding: "Chairman Kim said he's ready to allow them to come in".
The U.S. and North Korea agreed to have working-level groups to intensify discussions on delivering Trump and Kim's commitments from their Singapore summit, when the two sides promised to work toward denuclearization and improve relations. It has not taken any steps to halt nuclear weapons or missile development.
Pompeo said in Tokyo that it was important to hear from the Japanese leader "so we have a fully coordinated and unified view". Neither the US nor the North Korean side released an immediate detailed readout on the content of Pompeo's talks with Kim.
