  • Coca-Cola, Aurora in talks about making cannabis-infused drinks: report

The US drinks giant said it was "closely watching" the development of the cannabis industry and looking into a possible "functional wellness beverage".

'The space is evolving quickly. "No decisions have been made at this time", Coke added.

The Bloomberg report follows other deals between US beverage companies and pot producers in Canada, where recreational use of marijuana becomes legal next month across the country, followed by consumable forms of the drug next year.

Football world loses it over Zlatan's insane milestone goal
Despite reaching the milestone, this proved to be a disappointing night for the former Swedish global and his teammates. The stunning goal took Ibrahimovic's tally to 17 for the season, 11 adrift of MLS leader Josef Martinez.

Earlier this year, alcohol producer Molson Coors Brewing Co said it will make cannabis-infused drinks with Hydropothecary Corp, while Corona beer maker Constellation Brands invested $4-billion more into marijuana producer Canopy Growth. The drinks would aim to relieve pain with CBD rather than give the "high" associated with inhaling marijuana.

Aurora's shares surged on the news, jumping as much as 23 percent Monday in NY to $8. It is believed to have anti-inflammatory, anti-nausea, anti-seizure effects, and because it doesn't make the user intoxicated, CBD products are marketed as having some of the benefits of cannabis without the intoxication.

Coca-Cola has reportedly looked at other cannabis outlets as potential partners, with one source telling BNN Bloomberg that the company had high-level talks with the Canadian company Aphria Inc two months ago, but that those talks did not progress.

Hurricane Florence now category 3 storm
One trusted computer model, the European simulation, predicted more than 45 inches in parts of North Carolina. The massive storm is threatening the East Coast of the United States with an expected landfall early Friday.

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a compound found in marijuana plants that is now legal to consume in many states.

Although Canada is gearing up to legalize marijuana for recreational use on October 17, beverages infused with the plant's active ingredients won't be legal until sometime in 2019. The company last month said it would acquire the Costa Coffee chain for $5.1 billion.

"We have no interest in marijuana or cannabis", Coca-Cola said in a statement. That's according to a report today from Bloomberg's BNN, which cited multiple sources familiar with the matter.
