  • ICC is dead to us’ US to use ‘any means’ to shield citizens & allies from war crime probes

The closure of the PLO office - the latest in a series of moves targeting the Palestinians - was centered on the fact that no "direct and meaningful negotiations with Israel" are underway despite previous warnings, the State Department said.

The Trump administration gave official notice to the PLO that it would be closing their office in Washington, D.C. National security adviser John Bolton said that the decision had been influenced by the PLO's lack of cooperation on the peace process in the Middle East.

"While the court welcomes the membership of the so-called "State of Palestine", Bolton said during his speech at the Federalist Society.

Bolton's speech comes as the Trump administration is shuttering the Palestine Liberation Organization office in Washington, a controversial move that Bolton confirmed in his speech.

The United States will threaten to impose sanctions on International Criminal Court (ICC) judges if they go ahead with an investigation into alleged war crimes committed by us personnel in Afghanistan, Reuters reports.

Bolton, one of the most hawkish members of Trump's administration, is expected to make the unprecedented attack on the ICC in what appears to be a pre-emptive threat to block the court from investing war crimes committed by the United States during its Afghan campaign as well as to protect its ally, Israel.

The administration's move to close the PLO office in Washington is not directly connected to the Trump White House's opposition to the International Criminal Court, although the administration is trying to link them.

The United States on Monday will adopt an aggressive posture against the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, threatening sanctions against its judges if they proceed with an investigation into alleged war crimes committed by Americans in Afghanistan.

In November a year ago, then U.S. secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, cited a provision in a USA law that meant the PLO mission must close if the Palestinians try to get the worldwide criminal court (ICC) to prosecute Israelis for crimes against Palestinians.

"To the contrary, PLO leadership has condemned a United States peace plan they have not yet seen and refused to engage with the U.S. government with respect to peace efforts and otherwise", she said. "We will not join the ICC", said Bolton.

"For all intents and purposes, the ICC is already dead to us", he stated.

Under President George W. Bush, the United States did not ratify the Rome Treaty that established the ICC in 2002.

Naomi Osaka 'emotional' after gut-wrenching win over Serena
She beat Williams in their first meeting, at the Miami Open earlier this year, and she proved it wasn't a fluke this time around. Williams urged the crowd to calm down as Osaka wept, seemingly overwhelmed by the crowd's reaction and all the controversy.

"We will do the same for any company or state that assists an ICC investigation of Americans", Bolton said.

"We have been notified by a US official of their decision to close the Palestinian mission to the US", Palestine Liberation Organisation secretary-general Saeb Erekat said in a statement.

The decision follows an extended period of estrangement between the Palestinian Authority government on the West Bank and the administration, which has already canceled most US aid to Palestinians and recognized Jerusalem as the Israeli capital.

Those cuts came after the Trump administration announced it was cutting more than $200 million in bilateral aid to the Palestinians and spend the money for "high priority projects elsewhere".
