  • Hurricane Florence

Helene featured winds near 75 miles per hour was moving west. It is moving to the west-northwest at 17 miles per hour.

This is a life-threatening situation for those along the North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia coastlines.

Forecasters are also tracking two more hurricanes that have formed to the east of Florence: Hurricane Helene, which strengthened to a Category 2 storm off the west coast of Africa today, and Hurricane Isaac, a Category 1 storm now located roughly halfway between Florence and Helene.

The expected major hurricane could bring high surf and risky rip currents to the eastern USA, including Florida's east coast, until the end of the week.

As of 11 a.m., Florence was centered about 580 miles south-southeast of Bermuda, moving west at 13 mph.

Good news for homeless man deprived of GoFundMe money
He believed the couple used the remaining money on lavish vacations, a new BMW, and gambling, among other things. Earlier this week, the organization gave Bobbitt $20,000 to assist him while his lawyers investigate the case.

Hurricane Florence has been upgraded to a major category 4 hurricane as of noon on Monday.

Three hurricanes are in the Atlantic basin right now, with Hurricane Florence the primary concern for the east coast of the United States. SC has been hit by three Category 4 storms: Hazel; Gracie, in 1959; and Hugo, in 1989.

Hurricanes Isaac, which could hit Caribbean islands, and Helene, much farther out to sea, lined up behind Florence as the 2018 Atlantic season reached its peak.

As the danger became clear over the weekend, the governors of North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia all declared states of emergency.

In North Carolina, officials already had ordered some 250,000 residents and visitors to begin evacuating the Outer Banks barrier islands. Please take all necessary precautions.

"While our state is not under any current weather advisories, in Florida, we know how quickly a major storm can shift its path and we cannot leave preparedness up to chance".

"This means winds jumped up from 75 mph to 130 mph in just 25 hours ending 12 p.m. EDT Monday".

Isaac is expected to gain strength in the next day or two before beginning to weaken mid-week when it approaches the Lesser Antilles.

Unsafe storms are also threatening parts of the U.S.in the Pacific Ocean.

No coastal watches or warnings have yet been issued.

Heavy rain expected for Toronto starting Sunday night
Some stronger, even severe storms are possible through Saturday evening as high winds and heavy rains would be the main threats. That storm, Tropical Storm Ike, produced four to six inches of rain over two-thirds of IL , which led to flash flooding.

At 5 o'clock Sunday morning, the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) said Tropical Storm Isaac was located near latitude 14.5 north and longitude 38.1 west. The hurricane center noted that, when it comes to predicting the path of a hurricane four and five days in the future, it can be off by an average of about 140 and 180 nautical miles. But forecasters say residents should still beware of the chance for unsafe flooding and wind.
