  • Trump fires back at Bob Woodward book with statements from James Mattis and John Kelly

"The idea that the Secretary of Defense [James Mattis] has to tell a president that all of these actions are created to prevent the ultimate catastrophe", Woodward said.

Vice President Mike Pence told CBS News" "Face the Nation' that Woodward's book "shows a complete misunderstanding of how this White House works".

In his first live interview about the book, Woodward said that "some of the things Trump did and does jeopardize the real national security".

She added: "The American people would be better served if we talked about really important things facing the country".

"The fact that that's actually being honestly discussed is ridiculous, and frankly it's insulting" to the people who voted for Trump, Sanders said.

California's Delta Fire Engulfs Vehicles on Interstate 5
Residents were issued an evacuation warning, urging them to be prepared to leave if the fire threatened. It was largest fire in California state history, burning more than 459,100 acres.

First lady Melania Trump fired back at the anonymous source that stunned the White House with a New York Times op-ed Wednesday.

"The people are not anonymous to me", he says of his sources. The book, "Fear: Trump in the White House", is scheduled to be formally released Tuesday, all but ensuring that the debate over Trump's leadership ability and style will extend into a second straight week.

Woodward told NBC that Mattis and Kelly made "political statements to protect their jobs" when they denied making quotations attributed to them in his book.

The White House on Monday sought to project an image of productive forward momentum, even as President Donald Trump and many of his aides remain sidetracked and preoccupied by dual accounts of a warring and mutinous West Wing. The book claims that even after deleting the tweet, Trump raised the idea of evacuating military families from South Korea with Senator Lindsey Graham, who also told Trump that it was a risky idea. Dems can't stand losing.

"If that person had come to me while I was working on this book or if it were someone I interviewed I would say, 'I need specifics.' The building blocks of journalism, of truth, are specific incidents".

Four golfers are tied for the third place, they are Keegan Bradley, Alexander Noren, Rickie Fowler and Hideki Matsuyama . Starting on the back nine, McIlroy matched Woods' hot start with three birdies in his first four holes.

Woodward's forthcoming book, "Fear: Trump in the White House", follows along the lines of the op-ed claiming that Trump regularly makes disparaging remarks about cabinet officials and senior staff.

For example, he said that the president imposing tariffs goes against what "99.9%" of experts have recommended. He pointed to another instance described in the book, a meeting of the National Security Council in which Trump questions why the U.S.is funding military defenses in Europe. And if Democrats, by some chance, are able to sink the confirmation of Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh-who, most likely, will be confirmed-the president's mood will become even worse.

She said there could be a criminal aspect to the writing of the opinion piece - though she was unable to say exactly how the author might have broken the law when it appears that the act of disloyalty amounted to exercising the right to free expression.

A different journalist asked if the White House would give a list of everything in the book that they thought were inaccurate, to which Sanders replied, "I think that would be a complete and utter waste of our time, so no".
