Huesca drew first blood in the La Liga clash.

Barcelona had another half-chance in the 35th minute when Messi stood over a free kick outside the Huesca box, but the Argentine sent the ball high of the away side's crossbar.

Huesca answered nearly immediately back, however, with Alex Gallar turning a low Moi Gomez cross past Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen for 3-2.

But it proved little more than fleeting joy as Messi, Suarez and a Jorge Pulido own goal swiftly erased the early concern.

There was no way back for the Aragonese outfit when Messi scored his second of the game after the hour mark, before Jordi Alba made it 7-2.

Huesca drew closer just before the halftime whistle, with Alejandro Gallar Falguera scoring in the 42nd minute.

The Uruguay global made it 3-1 six minutes before-half time but it was not immediately awarded as the video assistant referee reviewed Jordi Alba's cross to Suarez. The pass from Alba had to go to VAR as there was a hint of offside when the left-back picked up the ball. Suarez hit a lightening-quick shot past Axel Werner to spark the rout. Rakitic completed a Messi assist for Barca's fifth goal in the 52nd minute.
