Three members of the Seattle Seahawks squad declined to take the field during the anthem.

This offseason, the NFL announced a new policy that required players to either stand at attention on the sideline during the national anthem or to remain in the locker room.

He claimed Friday that the players were outraged against "something that majority are unable to define", however players have repeatedly said they are protesting disenfranchismenet of black people in the United States.

"A good first step as a league would be acknowledging what they're doing to Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid", Stills said, via USAToday.com's Lindsay Jones. Instead, the president tweeted players should "Be happy, be cool!".

On "Outnumbered", Katie Pavlich said it seems like the players who continue to protest during the anthem have no interest in coming to the middle or understanding why so many people find their demonstrations offensive.

The NFL says it's anthem policy is on hold while it holds discussions with the NFL Players Association.

The NFL television ratings dropped almost 10 percent in the 2017-18 season, attributed in part to people upset that players were choosing to kneel during the anthem.

Earlier this year, the National Football League announced a ban on protests during "The Star-Spangled Banner", with fines for those who don't stand or wait in the locker room before games.

Miami Dolphins receivers Kenny Stills and Albert Wilson kneeled behind teammates, and defensive end Robert Quinn stood and raised his right fist.

A dozen games were played Thursday night but it was not immediately clear how many saw signs of protest. It is a common practice by some players to kneel and pray in the endzone before the anthem begins.

As games opened on Thursday, several players knelt, refused to stand on the field, or raised fists in protest.

After taking a short break from commenting on the issue, Trump started the culture war over the National Football League protests all over again this morning by tweeting that players who do protest the anthem in any way should "be suspended without pay".

The Britain-based watchdog group said the man had close ties with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Iran. A auto explosion took the life of Aziz Asber , the man who chaired the chemical weapons plant in Syria.

President Trump was much less enthused in a couple of error-ridden tweets sent Friday morning.

Several players took a knee, raised fists or did not take to the field while the national anthem was played.

"As a man, I gotta stand for something", Jaguars linebacker Telvin Smith said after staying in the locker room during the anthem.

"1.68 million formerly incarcerated citizens do not have the right to vote in the state of Florida", read a shirt worn by one Eagles player before Thursday night's game.
