Basketball student athletes can now take up 10 official visits between Aug.1 of their junior year and October 15 after their high school graduation: five as a junior and five as senior, according to the NCAA.

The NCAA will also limit the kinds of "basketball-related events" high school athletes can go to, allowing only ones that the NCAA can vet.

Pending a decision by the NBA and its players' union, high school players can be represented by an agent beginning July 1 before their senior year, if the player has been identified as an elite senior prospect by USA Basketball. College players will also be allowed representation as soon as their seasons end if they request an evaluation from the NBA Undergraduate Advisory Committee.

The agent would have to be certified by the NCAA no later than August 2020.

The changes reflect the recommendations made in April by the Rice Commission.

Missing in the NCAA's package of rule changes is anything to do with pay for players, a wish from many in the college sports community and the inspiration for a multitude of opinion pieces over the years.

In addition, there have also been changes to the current recruiting rules.

The policies adopted by the NCAA's Board of Governors and Division I Council include the appointment of independent groups to handle and resolve complex cases. The NCAA says that will save time since investigators would no longer have to independently confirm information outlined by other agencies or outside investigations.
