Witness Mercy Maduka, who posted a widely-shared video of the incident on Facebook, said the fight was sparked by a bad eyebrow job: "So I'm at the nail salon and they fucked up a lady eyebrow and she refused to pay then a fight broke outttt", she wrote, saying the employees hit the customers "like animals". "Share this cause the cops chose to arrest the black people but not the Chinese people who ganged up on them- hitting them like animals".

Customer Christina Thomas was booked on misdemeanour assault and other charges. According News12, Hiuyue Zheng is facing charges of assault, menacing, and criminal possession of a weapon.

The woman can be heard screaming in the video: 'That's my grandmother, stop! But the salon contends that she also refused to pay for the pedicure. (If the) police say you pay for the pedicure, then you pay for the pedicure.

Both Zheng and Thomas face charges including misdemeanor assault, menacing and harassment. Thomas refused medical treatment, according to police.
