  • Denmark enforces burqa ban amid protests

Danish police have fined a woman for wearing a niqab in a shopping complex, local media reported.

Since August 1, the country's much-debated "Burqa Ban" has prohibited full-body burqas, as well the niqab - Muslim dress which only shows the eyes.

Denmark's controversial ban on the Islamic full-face veil in public spaces came into force as women protested the new measure which fines anyone wearing the garment.

After police were called, they found that she had been illegally wearing a niqab in public and - when she refused to remove it - she was issued a fine of 1,000 Danish kroner (£120).

"During the fight her niqab came off, but by the time we arrived she had put it back on again", Mr Borchersen said.

A 28-year-old female was fined after getting into a fight with another woman, who had tried to tear of her veil.

The new burka law means that all forms of clothing that cover the face are now banned in public spaces, unless they serve a creditable goal.

The police took pictures of the woman for evidence. The law also prohibits accessories that hide the face such as balaclavas, masks and false beards.

Ohio State Puts Urban Meyer On Administrative Leave Amid Domestic Violence Scandal
Here are five things about Urban that you need to know in the midst of what is now a pending investigation into the claims. However, Shelley Meyer never specifically confirmed that she told her husband about the matter.

The Danish law allows people to cover their face when there is a "recognisable purpose" like cold weather or complying with other legal requirements, such as using motorcycle helmets.

First-time offenders risk a fine of 1,000 kroner while repeat offences could trigger fines of up to 10,000 kroner (£1,200) or a jail sentence of up to six months.

Civil liberties campaigners and Muslim women's advocacy groups have argued that the ban is discriminatory.

Full or partial bans are also in place in France, Austria, Bulgaria and the German state of Bavaria.

Meyer was aware of abuse claims against fired Buckeyes coach
Courtney convinced herself that de Fries was right, but she says Zach continued to physically and emotionally abuse her. In Meyer's absence, Ryan Day will assume head coaching duties for the Buckeyes.
