Geraint Thomas became the third brit to win the Tour de France today, joining Bradley Wiggins and Chris Froome on the list of cyclists from these shores to achieve the feat.

However, Welshman Thomas grasped control of the race during the mountain stages in the Alps and controlled his lead ever since, holding off a sustained challenge from Tom Dumoulin.

In second overall was Dumoulin at 1m 51s, with Froome at 2m 24s, an order unchanged by the final and 21st stage - 116km from Houilles to the Champs Elysées - won by Norwegian Alexender Kristof (UAE-Team Emirates) from German John Degenkolb (Trek-Segefredo) and Frenchman Arnaud Demare (Groupama-FDJ).

The cyclist is expected to fly into the United Kingdom later on Monday - but it is not yet known when he will be back in Wales.

A former teammate of Thomas's and Froome's at Barloworld, when the Welshman was "maybe 10 kilogrammes heavier", Impey has seen him develop from an Olympic gold medal-winning pursuit specialist into a consistently strong performer on the road. I encouraged him to get out and get it out of his system, in a way.

Tour de France victor Great Britain's Geraint Thomas celebrates on the podium after the 21st and last stage of the 105th edition of the Tour de France cycling race in Paris, July 29, 2018.

PSC rescinds Charter - Time Warner merger approval
The commission is giving Charter 60 days to come up with an exit plan from NY and has ordered the firm to pay $3 million in penalties.

Thomas finished third in the 20th stage, 14 seconds behind, but that was more than enough to protect the lead of more than two minutes he had at the start of the day.

"You're not going to find anybody who's got a bad word against Geraint", said Brailsford, who did not even have to manage his two leaders' conflicting ambitions.

Despite releasing a grovelling apology following the stage in which he apologised to Gesbert and his own team for his actions, Moscon's future at Team Sky looks to be in doubt following previous disciplinary issues and this incident at the most prestigious event on the cycling calendar.

"It's really nice Froomey committed fully to me and fair play", Thomas said.

"I felt good today".

"After a hard day yesterday I did not think it was possible", Froome said.

A year after being thrown off the race for causing the crash that ended sprint rival Mark Cavendish's campaign, five-time victor Sagan returned to the Tour looking to equal Erik Zabel's record haul of six victories in the points competition.

He is also the first Dutchman in 30 years to finish second at the Tour. "The last time I cried is when I got married". "We thought Froome was going to win it, if I'm being honest", Roberts said.

He was second after stage nine and took hold of the race leader's yellow jersey on stage 11. Froome rode next to Thomas as they crossed the line and applauded.

American rider Lawson Craddock, who broke his shoulder in the opening stage and sits last overall, also broke down into tears upon reaching the finish.

"I've won the Tour de France man, I don't know what to say".

Trump refuses to answer questions about secret Cohen recording
