  • Les Moonves, CEO of CBS, Accused of Sexual Misconduct: Report

"All allegations of personal misconduct are to be taken seriously", CBS' board of directors said in a statement obtained by TV Guide after the news broke that the story was coming.

Shares of CBS plunged on Friday's news, dropping more than 6 percent in regular trading. She also claims that Fager told her to apologize the other producer to "mitigate conflict in the office".

Both women are receiving backlash for their comments on Twitter, with critics saying such comments dismiss the claims made by these women and make the assumption that just because they didn't observe this behavior, others didn't.

The "prominent actress" said she never worked for CBS ever again.

He added, 'A majority of our senior staff are women. All of them worked their way up the ranks and are now managers of our broadcast. "It is a challenging place to do well and promotions are earned on merit and are not based on gender". Independent of the alleged Moonves misconduct story, Moonves is now embroiled in a major battle over control of the company with the CBS vice-chair Shari Redstone, which has divided the board.

Earlier on Friday, before the New Yorker article was published, CBS said in a statement that its board would promptly review the findings and take appropriate action. Farrow details numerous allegations that have emerged against the men of CBS in the past year: sexual harassment allegations against Brad Kern, producer of NCIS: New Orleans, a lawsuit against an executive director at CBS Evening News who encouraged a staffer to have sex with a coworker, and of course, the many allegations against network star Charlie Rose.

Chen released a statement late Friday, tweeting she "fully" supports her husband.

According to reports, Redstone called for CBS' investigation to be open and transparent.

The company's dominance has not always been a sure thing.

Leslie "Les" Moonves, president and chief executive officer of CBS Corporation, attends the third day of the annual Allen & Company Sun Valley Conference, July 13, 2017 in Sun Valley, Idaho.

Moonves, 68, has been a vocal supporter of the #MeToo movement, and helped establish the Commission on Eliminating Sexual Harassment and Advancing Equality in the Workplace.

But if there's "cause" for Moonves' firing, his compensation could be zilch. Forbes estimates Moonves' net worth at $700 million and calls him one of the highest paid CEOs in the United States. That made him one of the highest-paid CEOs in the country past year, according to an Equilar review of S&P 500 companies.

Hamels on being a Cub: "It's a dream come true"
In the midst of a relatively weak trade market for starting pitching, the Cubs were one of the teams pursuing Blue Jays lefty J.A. The Cubs got the left-hander Friday, trading pitchers Eddie Butler and Rollie Lacy and a player to be named to Texas.

The company has however been hit by scandal and controversy in the past several months.

In November, CBS News sacked Charlie Rose, at the time one of America's most respected TV journalists, after eight women told The Washington Post he had made unwanted sexual advances.

When asked for comment by ABC News on the anticipated report, the company's independent board of directors said it would investigate the accusations.

CBS announced that it had launched an investigation into the "recently reported" alleged misconduct.

The timing of the piece is inopportune for Moonves (married to "Big Brother" host Julie Chen since 2004) as he's locked in a power struggle with Shari Redstone, the controlling shareholder of CBS and Viacom, in a pitched legal battle for control of CBS. Moonves' resistance to the deal is believed to be driven in part by Redstone's preference that Viacom CEO Bob Bakish be given a senior role at the combined company. The legal case is being played out in DE court.
