Trump falsely claims exoneration from report

Though IG Michael Horowitz refrained from calling Comey's handling of the Hillary Clinton private email investigation politically biased, the watchdog nonetheless slammed Comey for how he went about his business.

The probe stems in part from a referral by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating whether there was any coordination between associates of Trump's 2016 election campaign and Russian Federation.

Instant messages between FBI employees assigned to the Hillary Clinton email probe reveal they anxious about the investigation's role in deciding the 2016 election.

Trump first took Strzok to task Friday on Twitter for texting during the investigation that "we'll stop" Trump from winning the presidency, a revelation that was disclosed when the report was issued Thursday, and Trump praised current FBI Director Christopher Wray for his leadership of the embattled agency.

In messages exchanged on November 9, 2016 and documented starting on page 417 of the report, FBI Attorney 2 and other FBI employees discuss their distress over the results of the presidential election and insult Trump supporters. And Trump took it one step further, barreling out of the White House Friday for an unannounced, early-morning television interview that turned into a almost hour-long freewheeling give-and-take with reporters, during which he returned time and again to assert that report had exonerated him amid Mueller's ongoing probe into Russian election interference.

Republicans on the House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform committees say they have "substantial questions about whether DOJ and Federal Bureau of Investigation properly analyzed and interpreted the law surrounding mishandling of classified information". He is likely to use the harsh assessment of Comey as validation for his decision to fire him, an act now central to special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into whether the president sought to obstruct justice. It may also fault former Attorney General Loretta Lynch and others.

The committees" memo also says it appears the outcome of the investigation was "predetermined' in May, two months before Comey's press conference and before multiple interviews had taken place. Trump has repeatedly said there was no collusion, and Russian Federation has denied election meddling.

Comey was sacked by President Donald Trump in May 2017.

Much of the public attention has been focused on Peter Strzok, a seasoned FBI counterintelligence investigator who worked the Clinton investigation and was later on Mueller's team until anti-Trump text messages with an FBI lawyer, Lisa Page, were discovered and brought to the special counsel's attention.

"This report confirms what we have known for a long time - that the FBI inappropriately applied a double standard to the Clinton and Trump investigations which hurt her and helped elect him".

The president's initial stated reasoning for firing the FBI director was that he believed Comey had mishandled the Clinton investigation.

"But my emails", she said, reacting in a three-word tweet.

Strzok is a respected, veteran counterintelligence agent who helped lead the Clinton investigation.

Strzok, replied, "No. No he won't".

Trump's legal team has repeatedly cast doubt on whether the president would sit for an interview with Mueller.

More importantly than anything, it totally exonerates me.

Trump is yet again insisting there was "No Collusion and No Obstruction of the fabricated No Crime" and is accusing Democrats of making up "a phony crime", paying "a fortune to make the crime sound real", and then "Collud (ing) to make this pile of garbage take on life in Fake News!"

Trump Claims Has 'Largely Solved' North Korean Nuclear Crisis
Trump has said he trusts Kim to follow through as the two countries negotiate dismantling North Korea's nuclear program. "He met. He can now call me if he has any difficulty; I can now call him. "We're very close to getting it started", Trump said .

Mueller is looking into the alleged Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election and any potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Moscow, among other matters that may arise from the investigation.
