  • Happy birthday Mr. President! NYS Attorney General files civil lawsuit against Trump his kids and his charity foundation

The lawsuit claims that the charity engaged in illegal political coordination with Trump's campaign, made multiple self-dealing transactions to benefit Trump personally and his business interests, and violated legal obligations for such nonprofits in NY.

The Trump Foundation had been hovering in limbo for months after Trump admitted the foundation had engaged in "self dealing" and announced that he would close the foundation-notably within days of when Michael Cohen's new LLC took over the job of paying Trump's off-the-books actions.

His children joined the foundation's board in 2006, although Ivanka stepped down to work at the White House in 2017.

President Trump on Twitter declared "I won't settle this case!"

Trump's children were named in the suit because they are all board members of the foundation, which was set up in 1987 to give away royalties from his bestselling book The Art of the Deal.

NCAA approves 4-game redshirt rule for college football
Historically, players who wish to transfer have been blocked from going to any school that's on a future schedule. Previously a player would lose his redshirt status after taking the field for a single play.

The lawsuit, filed in the Supreme Court of the State of NY, calls for enjoining Trump from serving as an office, director of trustee of a nonprofit in the state for the next ten years, and for his children to be barred for the next year.

After the election, Eric Trump distanced himself from his charitable foundation, which has also been under investigation by the attorney general's office related to the shifting of its resources to the Trump Organization.

The lawsuit adds to Trump's legal problems, including an investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller into whether his 2016 campaign colluded with Russian Federation.

Trump made a similar claim that he wouldn't settle a lawsuit charging that his Trump University misled customers, but ultimately paid a $25-million U.S. settlement a year ago.

That included the January 2016 charity event which the Trump campaign, using the foundation, put on for veterans.

But in late 2016, a spokeswoman for the attorney general's office, Amy Spitalnick, said the foundation "cannot legally dissolve" while it is under investigation. He promised to shut it down in 2016 but could not while the NY investigation was ongoing. The petition further alleges that, after collecting the funds from the fundraiser, the political campaign (including Corey Lewandowski) was allowed to make direct the "timing, amounts and recipients" of the funds collected from the fundraiser. He later sent a list of veterans' groups "purportedly approved by Mr Trump to receive grants from the Foundation".

The lawsuit, filed on Trump's 72nd birthday, marked a new addition to the legal woes facing the White House, ranging from lawsuits from two women claiming affairs with Trump, to the sprawling probe into his campaign's ties with Russian Federation.

Trump has already paid more than $330,000 in reimbursements and penalty taxes, Underwood said in the suit.

Bondi later said there were not many complaints about Trump University in Florida, and she strongly denied any connection to the political donation, which she personally solicited.
