  • The entrance of the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou China

Cuba said it remained ready to work with the United States to determine what, if anything, was causing the illnesses after its own investigation had uncovered no evidence of foul play.

Last year, 24 USA government employees and family members in Cuba displayed the symptoms, which were similar to those related to concussion and mild traumatic brain injury, according to the State Department.

The China incidents affect one of the most important of the seven US diplomatic outposts in the country.

At least one employee has suffered a mild brain injury, and several others have returned to the U.S.to undergo medical evaluations.

So I want to give him full credit when his team beats the Cleveland Cavaliers for another league championship. A large group of Eagles players had decided not to attend.

A USA medical team was screening more Americans who work at the consulate in southern China as the State Department confirmed evacuating a number of government employees who experienced unexplained health issues like those that have hurt US personnel in Cuba and China.

University of Pennsylvania researchers studied that troubling pattern among US government employees stationed in Cuba earlier this year, and now they are evaluating a similar scenario among others stationed in China, the Associated Press reports.

China has said it had looked into the Guangzhou case but came up with no clues about the cause of the symptoms.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said on June 7 that as far as she was aware there had not been any formal communication between the two countries on any new cases.

Medicare insolvency now expected in 2026 - three years earlier than previous estimate
Excluding federal debt payments, Medicare and Social Security together make up about 40 percent of total U.S. government spending. And the number of people on Social Security is expected to climb to 91 million, from 62 million, in the same period.

The department is urging government workers to seek medical attention if they begin experiencing symptoms such as dizziness, headaches or a ringing in the ears. Although the vast majority were cleared, eight people were referred to the University of Pennsylvania for additional testing, the officials said.

The State Department is taking the most recent reports in China very seriously and alerted staff in the country after consulate staffers fell ill in the city of Guangzhou in May, according to Politico.

Guangzhou is one of the most important of the USA diplomatic outposts in the country.

Cuba has denied targeting embassy staff, and the United States has not blamed the country's government for the suspected attacks. The consulate opened months after the establishment of diplomatic relations between Beijing and Washington in 1979 and moved to its new purpose-built facility in 2013. It is also the only US diplomatic installation in China authorized to process immigrant visas and handle adoptions.
