Chinese President Xi Awards Putin Friendship Medal, Pledges Support

  • Putin WWIII may be end of civilization and that should restrain conflicts

Donald Trump's fellow G7 leaders greeted the president's aggressive pre-summit bluster with a warm, reassuring breeze in an attempt to bridge their vast divide with him on trade and welcoming Russian Federation back to their fold.

French President Emmanuel Macron said ahead of the summit that U.S. allies would not be intimidated, signalling that the other six countries at the G7 meeting would be willing to sign a final declaration without Trump.

But the US President recommended Russian Federation be re-invited into the club, insisting Moscow should have a seat at the table. She listed the reasons why the G7 yanked Russia's invitation to the club in 2014, including its invasion of Ukraine, the annexation of Crimea and the recent chemical weapon attack on a former Russian spy and his daughter in the British town of Salisbury. Tensions mounted between the Trump administration and fellow G7 members Canada, Germany and France when the United States imposed steep tariffs on imported metals from the countries.

New Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said on Friday he would try to promote "moderate" positions on trade tariffs at a Group of Seven summit where the contentious issue looks set to dominate talks among leaders.

But Kudlow was quick to downplay the rift between the president and United States allies.

Trump Wants Russia Back In The G-7
Trudeau, for his part, said Trump's action would hurt American workers as well as Canadians. Other members of the Group of Seven are France, Italy, Japan, Germany and Britain.

But White House spokesman Hogan Gidley said the report was wrong and that the president would be at the meeting. The new government in Rome has previously said that sanctions on Russian Federation damaged Italy's agriculture industry and its design and handicraft sectors.

Another posting says he is looking forward to straightening out unfair trade deals with the G7 countries.

Trump was arriving Friday at the annual gathering, held this year at a Quebec resort, but will leave Saturday morning before the event is over, heading to Singapore for his highly anticipated summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Think the United Nations, the World Bank and the Group of 20, which brings together leaders of the world's biggest economies.

Critics said the growing U.S. isolation is risky at a time when Trump is making diplomatic overtures with North Korea and in the Middle East and could use the support of allies.

After the talks, Xi and Putin signed a joint statement, witnessed the signing of bilateral cooperation agreements and met the press. "Maybe we should come up with a new slogan", he said.

Nevertheless, Trump told reporters Friday that he has been "Russia's worst nightmare".

And he emphasized a "good relationship" with French President Emmanuel Macron, saying they sometimes have a "little test" on trade, but predicting a positive outcome.

And he said Trump's determination to bait his allies over trade and diplomatic engagements "would only play into the hands of those who seek a new post-West order where liberal democracy and fundamental freedoms would cease to exist".

Macron said Thursday on Twitter, "The American President may not mind being isolated, but neither do we mind signing a 6 country agreement if need be".

"It's a lucky number", Tusk said. Putin stated that the penultimate goal in terms of economic relations between the two countries is integrating and harmonising the One Belt-One Road initiative with the Eurasian Economic Union in order to create and expand a dynamic free trading zone throughout the wider east Asian and Eurasian space whose potential can unleash productivity throughout the region.
