In the 25 years since Kate Spade's founding of her handbag line, the name has become a byword for a certain preppy style. The comedian shared multiple photos of the two smiling together, describing the designer as "so sharp and quick on her feet".

Born Kate Brosnahan in Kansas City in 1962, she graduated with a degree in journalism from Arizona State University in 1985. "But she kept watching it and watching it over and over". He also reflected on the time when he first met her in the early 1990s.

Kate was found dead Tuesday at the age of 55 of an apparent suicide at her Park Avenue home in New York City.

Sources also told TMZ that Kate Spade was suffering from extreme depression before she died.
