  • A crocodile killed a pastor during water baptisms in a lake in southern Ethiopia Sunday

Cape Town - A routine baptism ceremony went horribly awry after a crocodile grabbed hold of the pastor conducting the ceremony in Ethiopia's Arba Minch Town, reports the BBC.

The Lonely Planet warns the crocodiles can be aggressive towards people and animals because the lake has few fish.

It is believed the reptile that killed Pastor Docho was a Nile Crocodile which can grow up to six metres (20ft) long.

After the crocodile struck, congregants and local fishermen scrambled to save the Protestant clergyman, policeman Eiwnetu Kanko said, using fishing nets to prevent the crocodile from taking Eshete further into the lake.
