What happens when the sun dies?

  • The good news is that the death and collapse of our sun is a long way off. Scientists predict that the sun will die in 10 billion years and now a new study has discovered what will happen after this takes place

"We found that stars with a mass less than 1.1 times the mass of the sun produce fainter nebulae, and stars more massive than 3 solar masses [produce] brighter nebulae", study co-author Albert Zijlstra, a professor of astrophysics at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, said in a statement.

Scientists assumed that the sun would be too faint to create a planetary nebula because of its mass.

When a star is in its last stages, it typically turns into a planetary nebula, which traces the star's transition from a red giant to a white dwarf.

"The data said you could get bright planetary nebulae from low mass stars like the sun, [while] the models said that was not possible, anything less than about twice the mass of the sun would give a planetary nebula too faint to see". The Professor continued to say that the envelope could measure near about half of the mass of the original star.

Trump. "I think he would follow in the exact same footsteps as our president", Newbrough said. "No way!" Trump said in his tweet. The Tweeter-in-Chief informed the West Virginia populace Monday morning that they should not vote Don Blankenship for Senate.

New research suggests that the sun will transform into a planetary nebula, which among the most attractive and striking objects seen by astronomers, some shining bright enough to be seen across distances of millions of light years. Further, he said that this unveils the core of the star, which at this scenario in the life of the star is gradually getting exhausted before dying off finally.

The core then sends out x-rays and ultraviolet light that will cause that envelope of debris to shine for about 10,000 years, producing a nebula while the star's core flickers off.

According to their new calculations, once expanding red giants eject the dust and gas that make up the nebula, they heat up three times faster than suggested by the previous models. "Some are so bright that they can be seen from extremely large distances measuring tens of millions of light years, where the star itself would have been much too faint to see".

The researchers developed an all-new data model in order to reach up to these findings.

Once they go over 100 devices or plan to roll out a commercial product, they'll have to sign an agreement with Google . Google unveiled its smart display platform at CES, but it left the hardware to Lenovo, JBL , and other partners.

The discovery also solves a problem that scientists had approximately 25 years ago.

But whilst the data suggested this was correct, the scientific models claimed otherwise.

Coincidentally, the new findings also show that the mass of the sun is nearly exactly the lower limit for producing a visible planetary nebula.

Christophe Morisset, an astronomer at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, tells the publication that the new model operates on the theory that when lower-mass stars expel their envelopes, the cores heat up more rapidly than scientists previously thought. It even foresees the shine of the vast envelope of substance, which the stars throw out when their life ends. This contributes luminosity, making the nebula visible, despite the low mass. Astronomers believed the brightness of a nebula depended on a star's mass with the larger stars producing brighter nebulae. "Problem solved, after 25 years!"
