This Earth Day, April 22, the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) joins the worldwide celebrations.

President of Earth.org, Kathleen Rogers best sums it up: "In the United States and around the world, smog was becoming deadly and evidence was growing that pollution led to developmental delays in children".

"We have all contributed to this problem - mostly unknowingly - and we must work to reduce and ultimately to End Plastic Pollution", says Valeria Merino, Vice-President of Global Earth Day at Earth Day Network". It was first celebrated in 1970, and now the events are held in more than 193 countries.

"It is a day of political action and civic participation".

The Pelicans' Backcourt Is Winning The First Round Of The Playoffs
New Orleans jumped to a 16 point lead after the opening quarter and kept their lead in the double digits the rest of the way. Davis and Holiday scored easily the entire evening, and there wasn't much Portland could do to slow down the star combo.

To mark the day, people are set to march, sign petitions, meet with their elected officials, plant trees and clean up their towns and roads.

The Earth Day Network, organizers of the annual campaign, says that 300 million tons of fossil fuel-based plastics are sold every year and 90% of it is thrown away, with a high percentage ending up in our oceans, landfills, and wildlife.

Corporations and governments also use the occasion to make pledges and announce sustainability measures.

It added, "From poisoning and injuring marine life to the ubiquitous presence of plastics in our food to disrupting human hormones and causing major life-threatening diseases and early puberty, the exponential growth of plastics is threatening our planet's survival". EDN has built a multi-year campaign to End Plastic Pollution.

Brad Stevens on Celtics' loss to Bucks: 'Offensively we were horrendous'
If the Bucks are going to win this series, he can't be getting soundly outplayed by Rozier. "They punched us in the mouth early". Despite, Antetokounmpo picking up his fifth foul early on and heading to the bench, the Bucks continued to add to the lead.

"The use of plastic products over the years has taken its grim toll on our natural resources".

The country, he said, should consider ideas to eradicating plastic pollution such as building houses, boats, and other structures with plastic waste.

Earth Day is a global movement that started 48 years ago when millions of protestors took to the streets to bring to light the negative effects of the industrial revolution.
