  • 'Roseanne' Revival Premiere Is A Big Ratings Hit For ABC

ABC's wildly popular "Roseanne" reboot has been renewed for another season, the network announced Friday.

"We're thrilled that America has welcomed the Conner family back into their homes", ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey says in a statement.

It is the show's 11th season, but with a 21-year gap since its initial nine-season run.

In Cincinnati, the 17.1 rating was slightly less than the combined viewership (18.6 rating) for CBS' "NCIS", NBC's "The Voice" and Fox's "Lethal Weapon" (18.6 rating). Within one day of Nielsen's delayed viewing, the total viewer count increased to over 21 million.

ABC debuted a reboot of the 90s sitcom Roseanne this week, and its ratings outperformed every other premiere so far this season.

Stephen Colbert on his "Late Show" noted Thursday night that another Trump-related program got bigger ratings this week.

Television star Roseanne Barr has posted an unusual message praising President Donald Trump for freeing "children held in bondage", in an apparent reference to a conspiracy theory about satanic child sex abuse at the highest levels of government. "Half the country voted for him (Trump), half of them didn't".

While another tweet suggested that if she continued walking the political path, her show might provoke chants of boycott.

Mr. Trump congratulated Ms. Barr on the episode's success in a phone call afterwards, she said Thursday.

"She's talking about jobs and the economy and how her family nearly lost her house and President Trump was actually talking about jobs", Meghan McCain stated on "The View" Thursday. "He really understands ratings and how they measure things", Barr said. But this could be the one TV series that evolves into a ratings outlier.

"Roseanne" originally aired from 1988 to 1997 and featured a blue-collar Midwestern family struggling to get by. She is a Trump supporter, as she is in real life, while her sister Jackie Harris, played by Laurie Metcalf, is a Hillary supporter.
