Easter Monday could see heavy snow dumped over England, Wales and southern Scotland - again affecting travel as people return home from their breaks.

Originally, the region were expected to be battered by strong northerly winds - which could have brought with it a third round of snow.

The Weather Channel says: "The icy wind that has chilled most of Britain will continue to sweep across the country on Good Friday, and there is a risk of some snow accumulation in Scotland".

A variety of weather is expected across the United Kingdom over the Easter weekend, often on the cold side with showers and longer spells of rain at times, but there will also be drier spells with some sunshine for people to get out and enjoy the long weekend.

She had crossed almost the entire four-lane, empty road before being struck by the front right side of the vehicle. The earlier Fusion test cars used seven lidars, seven radars and 20 cameras.

The weather warning for Easter Monday will come into play shortly after midnight and remain in place for much of the day.

"At present the extent and amounts of any snow are very uncertain and it is quite possible that snow might not be too disruptive".

There is also the possibility of more prolonged rain and hill snow for parts of northern England.

"Easter is always a busy period on the road network and we'd urge all motorists to make sure they do their bit to check their vehicle is roadworthy before setting off over this period".

Isolated Showers Tonight & Wednesday
We can expect partly cloudy conditions to become mostly cloudy with showers and heavy down pours moving in by late Wednesday . A cold front will slide through early Wednesday evening bringing a small chance of a few brief light showers or sprinkles.

Temperatures are predicted to fall as we go through the weekend but for most part it will be mainly dry and settled. This will produce first rain, then snow. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

For most of the country the day will be cloudy, punctuated by some sunshine and showers, before more rain moves in from the south on Monday morning bringing the potential of further snow to the northern hills.

Saturday, the high will be near 57 with partly sunny skies and a southwest wind of 11 to 15 miles per hour, becoming north in the afternoon, according to the weather service.

Snow showers are possible to continue through Saturday morning.
