  • Facebook lets you delete personal data with new privacy tools

Facebook says an overhaul of its privacy tools will make it easier for people to find and edit the personal information the company holds.

In the wake of the data breach by Cambridge Analytica, Facebook is changing its privacy settings.

The suit says Facebook is in violation of the Fair Housing Act, which makes it illegal to publish housing ads that indicate preferences or limitations based on race colour, religion, handicaps, familial status or national origin.

Facebook has run into some privacy concerns as of late, and as a result, the social network is making it easier to find its security tools.

Saudi Arabia and SoftBank plan 200GW solar build
The venture also plans to build centers for research and development and education and training, he said. The project is expected to build out all 200 gigawatts of the project by 2030, Masayoshi Sons said.

Lastly, its privacy shortcuts page now has more visuals and explanations for what each option does.

The company said the updates have been in the works for "some time but the events of the past several days underscore their importance". "Mark Zuckerberg may now testify in front of Congress like these are real consequences of what's going on". This allows users to delete content from their Facebook as they see fit, even old posts they've published to their Timeline.

The new menu will also enable users to manage the information that Facebook accesses to show users adverts.

The company acknowledged that it needed to "do more to keep people informed", but said the changes have been "in the works for some time". Settings, which had previously been separated by asking questions like "How do I stop someone from bothering me?", are now divided into security, personal information, ads you see and management of who sees your posts and profile information.

Some privacy advocates wondered whether the new system would make a difference.

Of course, Amazon hasn't been busted stealing data from tens of millions of users, then selling it to a clandestine marketing firm that exploited that data to sway an election.

"We're also making it easier to download the data you've shared with Facebook - it's your data, after all". Its stock has been dropping, advertisers have been pulling out, the Federal Trade Commission has it under investigation, Mozilla has created an extension to put your Facebook account in isolation, and those in damage control seem at a loss for what to do. She also asked whether stricter rules were needed for companies like Facebook as exist for traditional media, and whether it would change its approach on transparency toward users and regulators. Three users of the Facebook Messenger have filed lawsuits against the company for violating their privacy. In the coming weeks, we'll be proposing updates to Facebook's terms of service that include our commitments to people.
