Venus knocks out Serena, Wozniacki marches on in Indian Wells

  • Serena Williams wants to serve an ace on yo face... with a new cosmetics line

Serena saved three break points to hold her first service game but lost her third to love as Venus took a 4-2 lead and served out for the set in 37 minutes. "It was good to play and try to get in the rhythm and get into the swing again", Serena said after the match.

The two tennis superstars who have played with and against each other over the course of their long careers, showed no signs of family connection on the court as they both fought to earn points. "She just did everything great".

"[Serena's] level is super-high and it was very hard to close out the match, just getting one ball back", Venus lauded her sister in her post-match press conference. "I wish it were, but it's not". But then I wouldn't be who I am. "I don't want to go backwards", she stated.

This was Serena's first time on the WTA Tour since ending a 14-month absence, during which she married Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, and gave birth to daughter Alexis Jr. She lamented missing shots she said she would make 10 times out of 10 in practice.

Drew Brees agrees to 2-year extension with Saints
On Christmas Eve, he became the fastest quarterback in National Football League history to reach 70,000 career passing yards. Brees started his career with the San Diego Chargers but it is with the Saints that he made his mark.

Among the Williams sisters, the one who had won the first set, was the one who had won 24 out of the 28 matches between them.

But in her first competitive singles match in more than a year, Williams eventually settled into a comfort zone on the way to a satisfying 7-5, 6-3 win over Diyas to advance to the second round of the tournament.

Highlights on deck Tuesday in Indian Wells are Simona Halep vs. Qiang Wang, Venus Williams vs. Sevastova, Garcia vs. Kerber, American wildcard Amanda Anisimova vs. Karolina Pliskova, Wozniacki vs. Kasatkina, and Collins vs. Suarez Navarro.

"I can't really replicate the situation no matter how much I do in practice". I think I have played more matches in the a year ago. "My room for improvement is incredible", added Serena.

Trump backs off call for raising minimum age to buy gun
Seemingly on the defensive after his about-face, Trump tweeted Monday of the age limit that "States are making this decision". DeVos has been a source of contention because of her stance on privatizing schools over of supporting public education.

'I probably won't play in the very beginning, in Monaco, ' said Federer, who last played there in 2016. Serena returned to the tournament in 2015 and Venus a year later. I think that's going to be a huge story, maybe the story of the year.

What's interesting about the name Serena has chose is that the Olympic gold victor had chosen the same brand name in the past for her own clothing line, the plans for which seem deferred for now.

"Each tournament, my goal is just to be better than the last", Williams said.
