  • Texans Reportedly Won't Pursue Any Players in Free Agency Who Kneeled During National Anthem

Last season, Texans' owner, Bob McNair made waves when he referred to players kneeling during the anthem as "inmates" running the prison and the backlash was evident. The team could make waves during free agency, if there's any merit to a perception that's making the rounds in the agents community.

According to a new report from the Houston Chronicle, the Houston Texans are not interested in pursuing or signing any free agents or drafting any players who participated in pre-game kneeling protests during the national anthem.

Ankara 'on alert' against possible terror threats
The notice also advised USA citizens in Turkey should avoid large crowds, keep a low profile and otherwise be cautious. Starting March 5, the Embassy will provide "only emergency services", the Monday announcement said.

Citing conversations with two anonymous agents, The Houston Chronicle reported Saturday that while "there is no directive within the organization", it is understood that the Texans are not considering free agents who have participated in the protests, or draft prospects who would be likely to do so. However, that was nothing compared to the reaction it received once it became public. It led to widespread criticism, protests from Texans players and caused at least one player's wife to admonish McNair on Twitter.

"All of our players will be standing", the real estate mogul told the newspaper, saying his initial position supporting the players had changed during the furore between US President Donald Trump and National Football League stars which erupted a year ago.
