The Treasury Department on Monday released a list of 96 Russian business executives who could face USA sanctions for their alleged proximity to the Kremlin.

"By naming the whole Russian government, presidential administration and all Russian billionaires, the Trump administration has undermined and ridiculed the U.S. sanctions on Russia", Aslund said on Twitter.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin says the report released by his office will lead to new sanctions against Russian Federation.

Kosachev criticized the U.S. government for harming Russia-U.S. relations, saying that "the consequences will be toxic and undermine prospects for cooperation for years ahead", adding that the list displays "political paranoia" of the U.S. establishment. He also said it was "stupid" for the United States to treat Russia like Iran and North Korea as the Trump administration calls on Russian cooperation in imposing sanctions on those countries over their weapons and nuclear programs.

However, U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on January 30 that "in the near future, you'll see additional sanctions". Putin acknowledged Russia's "flaws and mistakes, a careless approach to things that are essential in modern sports", but also warned global sports bodies against becoming "departments of some powerful states".

"We really do believe that this is a direct and obvious attempt to time some steps to coincide with the election in order to exert influence on it", Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters Monday.

The Russian ambassador to the U.S., Anatoly Antonov, said on Russian state TV that Sergei Naryshkin, head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, met with his U.S. counterparts about the fight against terrorism.

US State Dept boasts "billions" of arms deals diverted from Russia, refuses to name any The US State Department has hailed its "real success" in deterring Russian defense exports, claiming Moscow will come up "several billion dollars" short. They insist this is proof he's "soft" of Russian Federation. We don't know how banks and financial institutions will use it.

The idea of the seven-page unclassified document, as envisioned by Congress, was to name and shame those believed to be benefiting from Putin's tenure, as the US works to isolate his government diplomatically and economically. However, a US Treasury official later admitted to the Buzzfeed website that the oligarch list had been "inspired" by a ranking of the richest Russians compiled by Forbes magazine.

Many in Washington were underwhelmed by the enactment of the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA), which Congress passed previous year in the teeth of opposition from the White House to force a reluctant Trump to take on Russian Federation.

"To try to make this right, Epic is offering a full refund to every Paragon player for every purchase on any platform", it says. Did any of you guys play Paragon? The refund will come directly from Epic Games instead of platform providers or retailers.

Mnuchin said the goal was not to levy sanctions by the deadline for producing the report but a review of the classified section of the report could provide more information on the issue. Some of the people on the list have long fallen out of favor with the Kremlin.

Included on the list are two billionaires who have featured in the complex Russian Federation saga.

The decision comes amid ongoing concerns from critics of the president that his administration has been too soft on Russian Federation.

KELEMEN: So far, the administration argues there's no need for new sanctions. The remaining 96 names are those of businesspeople, all with a net worth of more than $1 billion, according to BBC.

Instead, State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert stated the existence of the sanctions is sufficient, and that they are acting as a deterrent.
