In court documents to apply for search warrants nine days after the shooting, Las Vegas police said Haig "may have conspired with Stephen Paddock to commit murder with a deadly weapon", but Haig has denied the allegation.
The AP attorney returned the documents, but the other lawyer had already transmitted the documents and the Review-Journal published Douglas Haig's name online.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that more than 300 documents related to the shooting were unsealed by court order on Tuesday.
An FBI spokeswoman said she could not immediately comment Tuesday. When contacted by Newsweek in October, 55-year-old Haig, of Mesa, Ariz., said he was an aerospace engineer who "used to sell ammunition reloading components".
Neither the police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation nor the U.S. attorney's office have commented on whether Haig is still considered a person of interest in the investigation, however Las Vegas sheriff Joe Lombardo said earlier this month that investigators believed Paddock had acted alone.

Douglas Haig told Newsweek he was questioned by agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives after the October 1 shooting. The Las Vegas Review-Journal, citing police documents, identifies that person as Douglas Haig.
"I felt that they were hoping that they could find a connection between myself and Paddock, that would go back showing that I supplied him with most of his ammunition, possibly even some firearms", Haig said. His attorney says he continues to cooperate with investigators.

In addition to the 58 people Paddock killed, 422 people suffered wounds as a direct result of gunfire, and another 851 individuals suffered other injuries in the attack, Lombardo said.
Court officials are redacting the warrant records in preparation for release later Tuesday.
