Government holds All Party Leaders Meet ahead of Budget Session

The Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Bill, the Whistle Blowers Protection (Amendment) Bill, the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Bill and the Seeds Bill are likely to be taken up by the Rajya Sabha.

A day before the start of the session, the government met leaders of several political parties in Parliament House and sought their cooperation in ensuring its success. The Budget will be presented on Thursday.
Making a strong pitch for the passage, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, union ministers Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley and Ananth Kumar, and other leaders of the Opposition attended the meeting.
At the all-party meeting held on Sunday to discuss the business that the government proposes for the session, opposition parties have expectedly hit out at the government for such a short first phase of the session, accusing it of running away from critical issues it wanted to raise. This year the budget session will be held from 29th January to 6th April.
