The Grand Strand could see a partial lunar eclipse this week

"Make sure you have a clear line of sight to the horizon in the west, opposite from where the sun will rise". The moon will not actually appear purple, nor will have it a cape - but Wednesday is a great time to gaze up and enjoy the night sky. The peak eclipse is just out of sight from the continental USA when it happens, but watchers in the east coast can still catch the Blue Supermoon getting eclipsed at early morning of January 31. Since the lunar event is expected to happen during the evening, the moon will not go into complete darkness, rather the light will be scattered and may appear reddish. This position is called perigee and simply means that the moon is in the part of its orbit that puts it closest to Earth. And unlike a solar eclipse, a lunar eclipse is perfectly safe to watch in the night with the naked eye. The moon will still be fully visible, but because the Earth will be between the moon and the sun the moon should take on a deep orange hue.

Forget yesterday's news. Get what you need today in this early-morning email. "The eclipse begins at 5.51am ET, as the moon is about to set in the western sky, and the sky is getting lighter in the east".

United Kingdom to 'maintain continuity' with European Union rules
Asked if that increased the risks of no-deal Brexit, the diplomat said yes, "in particular given the ticking clock". He said the chancellor's remarks had "overshadowed" his main point that May wants a deep trade deal with the EU.

These lunar events are not uncommon to see on their own, but it is extremely rare to see all three events take place together. Those in the western U.S.as well as Australia and Asia should have the best views, Aufdenberg said. That's when the moon slides into the earth's shadow. The next total lunar eclipse visible across North America will occur January 21, 2019. Earlier than that the penumbral eclipse is occurring, which is a fairly dim shadow and so the moon will still look bright.

"At first, the moon will look dark gray in color during the overnight hours", said WLOX First Alert Meteorologist Wesley Williams.

The statement continued , "Our commitment is uncompromising, and we hope everything we do makes this very clear". Over the last few weeks, while Larry Nassar awaited sentencing , pressure has mounted against Lou Anna K.

The maximal eclipse visible in Ottawa will occur at 7:10 a.m., according to the Canadian Space Agency.

Lucky for skywatchers, January 31 just happens to be a full moon, and not just a regular full Supermoon at that.
