Intel Haswell and Broadwell Reboot Issue Cause Identified

Intel has requested users stop installing its own Spectre/Malware patch after confirming the fix was causing people's computers to shut down. However, even though Intel has now figured out why those reboot problems occurred with those processors, it seems that relief for end users will depend on the speed of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) testing efforts.

Intel says that it has root-caused the issue on Haswell and Broadwell systems and that it has already issued a version of the fix to hardware partners, which are now testing it. Intel's official advisory to hardware partners hasn't changed: Don't issue anymore of the bugged update and start testing the new one.

Kyle Edmund battles past Andreas Seppi into last eight
Edmund, the lone Briton in the men's draw after the withdrawal of Andy Murray , slammed 25 aces on Hisense Arena. As he had done in the second set, though, Dimitrov played a poor game serving for it and back came Kyrgios.

Intel initially believed the reboot problem was limited to firmware updated systems running its older Broadwell and Haswell CPUs.

"We believe it is important for OEMs and our customers to follow this guidance for all of the specified platforms listed below, as they may demonstrate higher than expected reboots and unpredictable system behavior".

Dortmund still waiting on 'concrete' offer for Aubameyang
Permier League club Arsenal seem to be the main suitors and here is why Aubameyang is flawless for the North London Club. Therefore, any deal would outstrip the £46.5 million club-record purchase of Alexandre Lacazette last summer.

With Apple having their own remediation in progress, to fix the same issues on their home-grown processors for iOS devices, and AMD also caught up in this (although to a much lesser extent than Intel) this issue is one of the most pervasive and hard to remedy vulnerabilities I can recall.

The firm says the patches, which began rolling out recently, were also resulting in unpredictable system behaviour. No word on a fix for other processors for now, but the founder will hopefully share more details soon. While Intel has issued patches for up to 90 per cent of affected CPUs, they came out a cost. In a post today, executive vice president Neil Shenoy announced that Intel had located the source of some of the recent reboot problems and is recommending users skip the patches entirely until a better version could be deployed.
