Along with these new cables, Google Cloud has also announced plans to open up to new regions, according to Ben Treynor, 24x7 VP at Google Cloud.

The company plans to follow up these openings by commissioning three subsea cables in 2019 that will respectively connect Chile to Los Angeles, the U.S. to Denmark and Ireland, and Hong Kong to other communication hubs in Asia.

The Google Cloud Platform is expanding to include five additional datacentre regions and three subsea cables, as the search giant's pledge to invest $30bn in building out its cloud infrastructure gathers pace.

Chelsea FC draw 0-0 at home vs Leicester City
Given the speculation surrounding their manager, it was intriguing to note the response of Chelsea fans. As for Fabregas, the Spaniard makes Chelsea tick and without him they lacked creativity in midfield.

The move would put Google - which has invested $30 billion in infrastructure during the past three years - in a better position to compete against Microsoft and Amazon.

Starting in 2019, the first of the three cables is a private cable called Curie that will connect Chile to Los Angeles. It will be the first subsea cable in Chile in 20 years and will be the largest single data pipe to reach Google customers across Latin America. "Owning the cable ourselves has some distinct benefits". Further, Treynor noted that after the cables are operational, they can easily make routing decisions to optimize for latency and availability.

Despite jumping in head first, Google is not entering the undersea cable business enthusiastically. While each of those companies will have different uses for the cable, Google plans to use it to boost its network's resiliency in the northern Atlantic region. A third cable will run from Hong Kong to Guam. The HK-G, an acronym for Hong Kong-Guam, is another consortium cable interconnecting major subsea communication hubs in Asia.

Google will work with leading social network Facebook and other companies on a "Havfrue" cable linking the USA with Denmark and Ireland. The Google Cloud Platform (GCP) region, which is now live in the country, will encourage more local firms to adopt Cloud. Google is partnering to build this one with RTI-C and NEC to improve its coverage in the Pacific region.

"Google subsea cables provide reliability, speed and security not available from any other cloud", Sloss stated. It now has 15 regions made up of 44 zones. It will also increase the company's network capacity at their new Hong Kong region.
