Former England striker Cyrille Regis dies

After initially trying his hand at coaching at West Brom, Regis became a sports agent, where he covered a variety of disciplines outside of football.

Ex-West Bromwich Albion striker Cyrille Regis has died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 59, it has been announced.

He was awarded an MBE in the Birthday Honours in 2008 for his services to football.

"For the rest of my playing days, it was also a motivation, a reminder that these people were not going to stop me", said Regis, whose role as a pioneer for black players in the game remained a source of deep satisfaction.

Regis was born in French Guiana but moved to London when he was just five.
