Apple has acquired a Canadian software startup named Buddybuild to entice app developers.

TechCrunch first reported the deal and received confirmation from Apple. The startup provides app developers a single platform to code for big projects. "The Buddybuild service will remain available to existing customers to build, test, and ship iOS apps to testers through buddybuild.com".

Apple, whose iPhones have always been outstripped by devices powered by Google's Android in terms of market share, still generates considerably more revenue from apps than the latter.

Game of Thrones officially delayed until 2019
The season finale was watched by 16.5 million viewers, including people who watched the episode as it aired and night-of streams. An announcement from USA premium cable channel HBO has confirmed long suspected rumours that the show would not return in 2018.

Buddybuild is a small Canadian company based in Vancouver that has been around since 2015.

Essentially, it gives developers a simple workflow when they need to iterate or push their apps to GitHub, GitLab or BitBucket. Buddybuild counts high-profile clients such as The New York Times and Mozilla, somehow giving a clue on the company's competent services and explaining why Apple took notice.

The Xcode engineering group absorbing Buddybuild will only make the iOS environment more developer-friendly and presumably make Apple steps ahead of Google.

Buddybuild should integrate well into Apple's existing set of tools, bringing additional methods for testing, debugging and deploying mobile apps through a proprietary channel. Billions of dollars in research have poured into it. Companies are already generating substantial revenue, and even more wondrous products are in the pipeline.

The move echoes Apple's acquisition of TestFlight back in 2014, which began to require users to employ Xcode to utilize the service. Of the $17 billion generated in Q3 from apps globally (excluding China), Apple accounted for around $11 billion of it, according to App Annie. The startup has managed to raise around $8.8 million in three years of existence.

Stewart Butterfield, co-founder of the photo sharing website Flickr and workspace messaging app Slack, has served as an adviser for Buddybuild.
