  • Daily News front page. Eric Garner death

The 27-year-old mother of an 8-year-old girl and 4-month old boy had a heart attack on December 23 and was on life support in a Brooklyn hospital.

She "suffered major brain damage from a lack of oxygen while in cardiac arrest", a family member wrote on Erica Garner's verified Twitter page on Wednesday.

Erica Garner, who became a well-known activist after her father, Eric Garner, died in police custody, has died at the age of 27.

The NYPD tried to arrest Eric Garner, 43, for allegedly peddling loose cigarettes.

The Twitter account, run by her family and friends since she became ill, asked that she be remembered as a mother, daughter, sister and aunt with a heart "bigger than the world".

Missed field goals, opportunities doom Utah State in Friday's Arizona Bowl
After winning the coin toss, Utah State's offense struggled and Eberle took the field to bail his team out. Both teams came into the matchup with 6-6 records and it certainly showed in the way both teams played.

"It's just sad to see her laying there and not the active Erica that we know", Sharpton said.

Garner gained national prominence after speaking out in the wake of her father's death in 2014 - an incident caught on cellphone video and one of several high-profile police encounters involving unarmed black men. But she became outspoken, organizing a "die-in" on the same corner where her father was placed in the chokehold, and accusing Mayor Bill de Blasio of not caring about African-Americans.

Garner's heart attack was reportedly triggered by an asthma attack that she'd suffered with for years. A Justice Department civil rights investigation into the case is ongoing.

Garner's wife eventually settled with the city for approximately $1M and made a decision to remain in the same public housing she had been living in before his killing.

In a video taken by Ramsey Orta, a bystander, Garner could be heard repeatedly telling officers, "I can't breathe".

USA could use some 'good old global warming' during cold snap
Trump also told the Times he wasn't anxious about the uncertainty concerning when the Mueller investigation might be concluded. The negative reaction continued as Donald Trump's attempt at trolling appeared to backfire.

"She stood up for justice for her father".

In a tweet on Saturday, de Blasio praised Erica Garner's "unshakable sense of justice and passion for humanity".

With former president Obama, Garner criticized his reactions to her father's death and the slow pace of the DOJ investigation. She also appeared in a campaign commercial for Sen. In a series of tweets after the meeting, Erica Garner again stressed that she wanted to see progress on the investigation.

Palanteo was charged with causing Garner's death, but a grand jury declined to indict him.
