Despite the statement from Mayweather, one thing that UFC President Dana White doesn't want people to do is to count anything out when it comes to the boxer in the UFC.

Zahabi, known for his philosophical approach in mixed martial arts, is all praises for McGregor's physical ability and fighter's mentality. To make matters worse, he hasn't even stepped foot inside the Octagon to compete since November 2016, with no set timetable on when (or if) he will.

"What we have to do, is he needs to defend that [UFC lightweight] title".

The former welterweight champion recently returned after a four-year hiatus and defeated Michael Bisping for the UFC middleweight title.

Some Twitter users lamented the quality of the messaging platform and the impact of prolific tweeter Donald Trump. Evolving and expanding social media has spurred the Library of Congress to limit its archiving of tweets.

"Get through the holidays, and hopefully he starts to get the itch to come back and hopefully we can get him back this summer", said White.

"There is no status", White told ESPN. He tried not to do it, but he contractually had to let go of the 145-pound belt.

McGregor became the undisputed 145-pound champion with a stunning knockout of Jose Aldo in December of 2015 but never defended the title. "He fought everybody on his way up 145 pounds".

Instead, White says he's looking to put together boxing superfights (in addition to his UFC duties) involving some of the best pugilists in the world. starting with heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua.

"He ain't fighting Conor McGregor", said White.

If you thought, or were hoping...that all the talk about Floyd Mayweather fighting under the UFC banner was wrapped up, well, it looks like that's not the case.

One thing Dana White did rule out, is a fight with Nate Diaz. White wasn't happy with St-Pierre's decision to vacate the title and was quick to shut down speculation that the French-Canadian may face McGregor in what would certainly be the biggest fight that can be made in the UFC.

"Tony Ferguson is the fight right now and is the move if [McGregor] wants to come back".

The Dagestani Sambo expert may have to sit out until Ferguson and McGregor finally meet, though an actual second interim bout between Khabib and Tony has been mooted elsewhere.
