Israel seized the eastern part of Jerusalem in the 1967 Six Day War and later annexed it in a move not recognized by the global community.

And now, the Israeli government is reporting at least 10 other countries are preparing to make the same decision.

Israel's transportation minister, Yisrael Katz, announced on Wednesday that a new train station set to be built adjacent to Jerusalem's Western Wall will be named after President Trump in honor of his decision to recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital as well as move the USA embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. He received a thank you letter from Trump, which said, "I am thankful for your gesture and am moved to know that the people of Israel are encouraged by my decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel". The Palestinians claim east Jerusalem as the capital of their future state, and a longstanding global consensus holds that the fate of the city should be decided through direct Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution last week rejecting the U.S.'s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, with several traditional American allies voting in favor of the motion.

Reviled by Palestinians, it is considered one of the most significant documents leading to the creation of the state of Israel.

Jovel said the plan to put the embassy in Jerusalem "had been considered for the past five months, and things just lined up in a certain way and also the resolutions in the United Nations and everything contributed to saying that now was the right time".

The statement was made after a conversation between Morales and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who celebrated the decision on Monday hoping other countries will soon follow in Guatemala's footsteps: "This is just the beginning and it is important", Netanyahu said.

Gretchen Heal, a spokeswoman for the Yancey campaign, declined to comment Tuesday on the Simonds campaign's planned litigation. The Virginia State Board of Elections plans to break the tie picking the candidates' names out of a bowl on Wednesday.

Transportation Ministry spokesman Avner Ovadia said Wednesday the project is estimated to cost more than $700 million and, if approved, would take four years to complete.

Israel considers all of Jerusalem its capital.

The global consensus on Jerusalem has not yet been resolved, but until now the worldwide embassies have remained in Tel Aviv.

These candles were soon used to decorate the tree, which later evolved into putting up Christmas lights and ornaments. The trees from the nursery are planted throughout the Lancaster County Park System.

Ikrema Sabri, a senior Muslim cleric in Jerusalem, denounced the planned train line extension, saying that Palestinians won't accept "any change or act in the occupied territories". The station will be about 150 feet underground. Giving the name of Trump to this project will not give it any legitimacy.

Even before announcing plans to name the station for Trump, the high-speed rail project had run into controversy.

A longstanding global consensus holds that the fate of the city should be decided through direct Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.
