The jewelry, dubbed "blackamoor" jewelry is a bust of a black person adorned with a gold crown and colorful crystals.

Princess Michael's history of racist and racially insensitive behaviour added further to many people's impression that the brooch was making an unpleasant statement.

Princess Michael of Kent, who is married to the queen's first cousin, was criticized for wearing a blackamoor brooch in front of Meghan Markle, Prince Harry's fiancé, during a Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace Wednesday.

Fifth flu season death in San Diego region reported
Masks must be donned when there are two or more laboratory-confirmed, unrelated influenza cases in the county. There is no charge for employees and volunteers to get the shots, say MCMC officials.

Some questioned whether she deliberately wore it to upset Markle.

The Queen's cousin-in-law had been heavily criticised for wearing the Blackamoor brooch to the meal, which was also attended by Prince Harry's mixed race fiancee Meghan Markle. "Princess Michael is distressed & very sorry that it has caused offence", a spokesperson told the Daily Mail.

Markle is no stranger to racist responses to her presence in the royal family.

"I even pretended years ago to be an African, a half-caste African, but because of my light eyes I did not get away with it, but I dyed my hair black", Princess Michael of Kent said at the time. I traveled on African buses.

IL loses population, drops to 6th-largest state
Wyoming had the largest percentage decline among states, losing almost 5,600 resident or about 1% of the state's population. Other states in the West - Nevada, Utah and Washington - saw similar percentage increases in their population.

This isn't the first time Princess Michael of Kent was accused of racial insensitivity, either. And a woman who once told black people to "go back to the colonies" at a restaurant decided that would be what she would wear to the Queen's Christmas lunch, where the Queen's grandson was introducing his fiancée, who is biracial, to the extended family for the first time. I wanted to be a writer.

"It's disheartening", Meghan told the BBC previously about the racism she has seen since she and Harry officially announced their relationship.

Kensington Palace is yet to comment.

"I always knew that when people who aren't like us claim that hereditary rank is not part of human nature, they must be wrong".
