Christian Benteke finally got on the score-sheet this season to end his barren run of 13 games without netting a goal for the Eagles. We needed to have more quickness, more quality in the play and it was not possible today.

Dec 16 (Reuters) - Christian Benteke put a hard week behind him to score his first goal of the season as Crystal Palace won 3-0 at Leicester City to climb out of the Premier League's bottom three on Saturday.

Leicester had a goal ruled out and saw Wilfred Ndidi sent off in the second half, as the 2015-16 champions failed to force their way back into the contest, Bakary Sako adding gloss to the scoreline for the visitors with a third in injury time.

Leicester lost Wilfred Ndidi, who was dismissed in the 61st minute after being booked twice within 10 minutes on his 21st birthday.

Kasper Schmeichel also saved smartly from Ruben Loftus-Cheek during Palace's bright start.

In the last worldwide break he did not play for Egypt , he didn't start at Stoke, we take him off as soon as possible. But obviously it's for him easy in the moment to finish the situations than for other players.

The Belgian striker broke his duck with a trademark header from Andros Townsend's cross on the right to put Palace ahead on 19 minutes.

Conceding at least woke the Foxes up and Benteke nearly gifted them an immediate equaliser, heading inches wide of his own goal.

The forward sidestepped Ben Chilwell and drilled low past Schmeichel for his fourth goal of the season.

The visitors did make it 3-0 in the 94th minute, though, Loftus-Cheek leading a counterattack and squaring for substitute Sako to curl home and consign the Foxes to a first defeat in six matches.

Palace nearly sealed it in the 80th minute, Schmeichel spreading himself wide in a manner reminiscent of his father Peter to deny Benteke from a Townsend cross to the back post.

Crystal Palace climbed out of the relegation zone with a 3-0 win at Leicester City. On Saturday, we did score them.

"It was not a good game for us and Crystal Palace deserved this result".

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson: "We've been getting closer and closer and today it all fell for us".

"We did feel a bit marooned (at the bottom of the table), there was a time when we were looking up at everyone above us and the gap was massive", Hodgson, 70, said.
