  • Netflix responds to backlash over 'creepy' viewing figures tweet

If you're wondering what A Christmas Prince really is, I'll tell you that it's a brand new silly Christmas movie made by Netflix that I could not absolutely watch, no matter how hard I tried. In particular, they called out the 53 people who watched the holiday film every day for the 18 days leading up to December 10. So much so, that Netflix - who are notoriously cagey about their streaming data - chose to call out the superfans. A Christmas Prince, for all you Grinches out there, is a Netflix original movie with Hallmark-level quality about a reporter who goes undercover, yadda yadda yadda, there's a hot prince, etc. Whatever be its response, one thing it must do is accurately informing users about its data collection practices, how it stores such data, and who gets to access such data so that its millions of users don't feel violated when it posts similar tweets in the future.

"The privacy of our members' viewing is important to us", Netflix said in a statement to Inside Edition.

How is this creepy when their library is public?,' wrote one user. News. "This information represents overall viewing trends, not the personal viewing information of specific, identified individuals".

On Tuesday, the streaming company defended a tweet that was criticized for being "creepy".

He had bought the painting in 2013 for $127.5 million although he later accused a Swiss art dealer of overcharging him. It's one of fewer than 20 paintings by the Renaissance master known to exist and the only one in private hands.

There are also some TV specials to watch (or re-watch if you've already seen), like Peewee's Playhouse Christmas Special, Good Luck Charlie's It's Christmas and Trailer Park Boys: Live at the North Pole. Netflix, poking fun at its own original movie asked, "Who hurt you?"
