Democrat Doug Jones wins Alabama Senate special election

  • Fake news infiltrates Alabama's US Senate race

It was the first Democratic Senate victory in a quarter-century in Alabama, one of the reddest of red states, and proved anew that party loyalty is anything but sure in the age of Trump. They never banked on winning this Alabama seat - but desperately needed it.

A Jones win would trim the Republican Senate majority to 51-49 and deal a blow to President Donald Trump, who has backed Moore amid the national conversation over sexual misconduct.

"If they do an expulsion for him.does that mean that any senator they don't like can be expelled?"

Moore would not necessarily have been a guaranteed Republican vote on anything.

Broncos snap long losing streak by whipping Jets, 23-0
It was the 56th career receiving touchdown for Thomas, moving him past Shannon Sharpe for No. 2 on the Broncos' all-time list. This was the way the Denver Broncos thought they'd play against that other NY team all those months ago.

"I think we've got to figure out a way to come together", Booker said.

"Certainly (Senate Minority Leader Chuck) Schumer would do everything he can to protect him, but he can't steer the entire caucus' needs around the needs of Doug Jones in Alabama". About a third of Moore supporters say they like him, but have reservations.

Polling of the race was scant, and the polling data were scattershot: While one survey released Monday morning showed Moore with a 9-point lead, another poll released the same day gave Jones a 10-point advantage in the race, FiveThirtyEight reported.

"Well, one of our attorneys is a Jew", Kayla Moore said, pausing for effect and nodding before adding, "We have very close friends who are Jewish and rabbis and we also fellowship with them".

White House spokesperson, reporters spar over 'erroneous' news coverage
This is something that - I'm speaking about the number of reports that have taken place over the last couple of weeks. About halfway through, though, Sanders appeared to lose her temper in a follow-up question asked by CNN's Jim Acosta.

President Donald Trump recently threw his support behind Moore after initially endorsing unusual in the Republican primary. "I said I can't vote for Roy Moore". At the center of the Trump-McConnell split over Alabama is that McConnell said the allegations facing Moore are credible, while Trump - who faces allegations of sexual assault himself - cast doubt on Moore's accusers. Most Jones voters believe the allegations, while most of Moore's supporters do not.

He also was suspended from Alabama's Supreme Court for refusing to recognize the legalization of same-sex marriage nationwide and has urged state governors and legislators to do the same.

Israel is an issue favoring Republicans, and therefore Moore.

And national Democrats, skittish about appearing too involved in the race, mostly stayed away from the state, with the exception of last-minute stumping by Sen.

"We've had this history in the past, going down the road that. has not been productive", Jones said.
