The frontrunner is Smith, who wrote the The Revenant.

Sources tell Deadline a Tarantino-directed Star Trek has been fast-tracked by executives at Paramount after the director met with writers recently and discussed his plans for an R-rated sci-fi movie.

Earlier this week, news broke that Pulp Fiction filmmaker Quentin Tarantino would be joining the Star Trek franchise via an idea he pitched to J.J.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider slyly announced
The person appeared to be working on documents related to a game called " Shadow of the Tomb Raider ". Thanks to a heartfelt message from Square Enix, we now at least know that more is on the way!

In fact, working with Tarantino has been a longtime dream for Stewart, and having it be part of the Star Trek universe would be an incredible bonus.

"People are always saying to me, 'Will you be Jean-Luc Picard again?' And I can not think that would be possible", he told The Hollywood Reporter at the Dubai International Film Festival, "but there are ways in which something like that might come about".

". one of my dreams is to work with Tarantino".

New Portal Game Unveiled
We were expecting to hear something about this on Thursday night (late Friday here in the UK) during the Game Awards. Bridge Constructor Portal will be released on December 20 for PC, MacOS and Linux as well as smartphones.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stewart, who starred in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and other "Star Trek" films, has expressed interest in reprising his role as Jean-Lu Picard if Tarantino directs the film. Deadline reports that Tarantino's Star Trek film will be the first R-rated movie in Trek history.

This isn't happening with Quentin Tarantino's Star Trek. Still, with both the studio and current cinematic Trek overlord Abrams apparently happy to switch things up to get Tarantino's services, it appears we might just get a darker Star Trek on the big screen. The movie will be planned out while Tarantino films his next feature about the Manson murders of 1969.

In the more than five decades since the original series premiered, "Star Trek" movies and TV shows have been a decidedly family friendly affair.
