Dead, Including Students, in New Mexico School Shooting

Police are responding to reports of a shooting at Aztec High School in New Mexico.

Though the shooting at Aztec High School was confirmed by the San Juan County Sheriff's Office, there are still conflicting number of casualties. They did not identify the suspected shooter as a student at the school or say how the suspect died.

Two victims were students at Aztec High School and police said the gunman is also dead.

At a news conference, police Chief Chase Stapp said Copeland had been with the department for 19 years. The community is still grieving the loss of its first officer killed in the line of duty.

Arrangements have been made for parents to pick up students at a nearby location.

The school is located in the Four Corners region and is near the Navajo Nation, about 180 miles north of Albuquerque.

Christesen said the shooter also died, but it is unknown whether the suspect was among the three confirmed deaths. He did not say whether anyone had been injured or killed.
