  • Same-sex marriage bill looks set to pass Parliament

Majority of MPs voted yes to the bill in a bid of changing the Marriage Act, eight days after a similarly decisive result in the Senate.

The bill passed its third reading with only four members of Parliament in opposition.

The House of Representatives is holding its final two-week session of the year, which is giving priority to lifting the ban on same-sex marriage in Australia.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull urged lawmakers to approve the marriage bill by Christmas.

In addition to that, Australia has officially legalized marriage equality in the country as well.

How do you top a film that made $1.672 billion at the box-office? Thanks to this big success, a sequel was undoubtedly coming. The issue at hand could be what to do with dinosaurs moving forward and Malcolm has been called upon as an expert witness.

Additionally, the passing of the same-sex marriage law will be a strategic political win for Turnbull, who has been strongly opposed by his predecessor Tony Abbott, a staunch supporter of conventional marriage.

Australia became the 26th country to legalize same-sex marriages.

"It's a historic day for Australia today and I think the celebrations around the country when we finally ... achieve marriage equality are going to be vast", Greens party senator Janet Rice said.

"And I say to JP, my dear, beloved friend who I miss so dearly: JP, that's what we are doing".

The law is likely to take effect in around a month, after royal assent and other formalities are completed, according to The Washington Times.

They say those who got the most benefit were eating an ounce-and-a-half a day of cheese a day, about the size of a matchbook.

Congratulations to Australia, most especially to those who fought long and hard to make this a reality!

Its passage was further delayed through numerous attempts by conservatives to add amendments for religious protections from the law, but they all failed and the Bill passed unamended.

About 12.7 million people participated in the survey, which had a response rate of almost 80% - which is considered very high.

In December 2013, same-sex marriage was very briefly legal in the Australian Capital Territory.

"Some individuals who entered into marriage in their previous sex or gender are faced with a choice between divorcing their spouse in order to obtain records reflecting their gender identity, or not having these records", the bill's explanatory memorandum notes.
