"This is an honor to be here and to be UCF's coach", Heupel said.

The university announced Tuesday that Josh Heupel will be the Knights' next football coach.

LaVar Ball Pulls LiAngelo From UCLA Following Suspension Over China Incident
According to ESPN's Jeff Goodman, Ball said he's pulling his son, LiAngelo, out of UCLA. "That's why I gave him the shoes". LiAngelo Ball spoke to the media after returning to the United States.

Heupel, however, is looking forward to the task ahead. "We need to play smart football but we also have to be physical". Most recently the coach was serving as offensive coordinator for Missouri. UCF will play Auburn in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl on January 1, and Missouri will face former Big 12 foe Texas in the Texas Bowl on December 27.

He will not coach the Knights in the bowl game, but will watch in from a booth at Mercedes-Benz stadium. OU then brought in Lincoln Riley, who was promoted to head coach after Bob Stoops retired.

Heupel said he was able to catch "bits and pieces" of UCF's play this season. The board, which is traditionally conservative, gives players a first- or second-round grade, or it tells them to go back to school. It's a nice fit for both sides. "I'm very excited to get a staff together and get to work with our wonderful student-athletes". He didn't take long to start assembling his assistants.

UCF also announced that Heupel is hiring Shannon as his defensive coordinator, which is the same job he had with Florida this past season.

I have competed and coached against Randy. He's going to run a 3-4 scheme that has the ability to move in a four-man front. "Has a rich history in Florida and recruiting and that's the life blood of our program".

"What makes this opportunity so unique is the vision of the leadership from President John Hitt, Provost Dale Whitaker and Director of Athletics Danny White".

"Josh absolutely killed the interview", White said.

Nebraska reportedly hiring UCF's Scott Frost as new head coach
Riley spent three seasons as the head football coach in Lincoln and finished with a 19-19 record in his three years at the helm. The 42-year-old Frost will look to help NU return to dominant form. "That's what we've done", Frost said.
