LaVar Ball Pulls LiAngelo From UCLA Following Suspension Over China Incident

LiAngelo, 19, never stepped on the court for the UCLA Bruins this season after he was arrested in China for shoplifting prior to their season opener against Georgia Tech.

LiAngelo and UCLA parted ways officially on Monday, which marked the start of his preparation for his professional basketball career.

According to ESPN's Jeff Goodman, Ball said he's pulling his son, LiAngelo, out of UCLA. "That's why I gave him the shoes". He'd be unable to enroll and play immediately for any NCAA Division I program, although there would have been at least the possibility he could catch on at a lower-level program, like an NAIA school.

"I'm going to get Gelo in shape, I'm going to work him out, we're going to do some other things and he's going to be headed to the National Basketball Association, '" he told "Access Hollywood" in an interview aired Tuesday on the "Today" show.

Ball appeared on CNN's "New Day" to discuss his recent decision to pull his son LiAngelo Ball out of UCLA after the freshman basketball player was suspended indefinitely for his shoplifting arrest in China that drew worldwide attention.
