Ben Stokes heading to NZ not Ashes

  • Estranged England cricket team player Ben Stokes will be in New Zealand on a private visit but could end up playing a one-day match for Canterbury

Speculation about the all-rounder's plans were raised by a picture on social media which appeared to show him at Heathrow Airport.

He remains unavailable for worldwide selection following his part in a late-night fracas in Bristol, but it has been learned he was granted a no objection certificate four days ago by the European Central Bank to play domestic cricket anywhere he chooses.

Stokes sent social media into overdrive on Monday night when he was pictured at Heathrow airport with his England cricket kit but the European Central Bank said he was going to New Zealand to visit family.

England's Ben Stokes is on his way to New Zealand to play for Canterbury in the upcoming national domestic one-day competition, according to reports.

This morning, Begaye appeared on cable news to discuss Trump's comments and how they were racially offensive. In closing, the Caucasian said that accusing Trump of intentionally offending the Navajos was absurd.

Stokes moved from New Zealand to England as a child so his father Gerard, a former rugby league worldwide, could take a coaching role.

"I'll be sat at home watching and following the lads in the hope they do really well", Stokes said in a video.

But England officials say that's not the case and they're still awaiting a police decision on whether Stokes will be charged over the Bristol incident.

Stokes is travelling to New Zealand, but the European Central Bank confirmed to Sky Sports News on Monday that the 26-year-old "is not on his way to the Ashes, England Lions or any other official training camps with the England setup".

Travel arrangements have not been arranged by them.

But Press Association Sport understands that the England and Wales Cricket Board has a contingency in place should Avon & Somerset Police clear the 26-year-old.

So far, he has missed three tour matches and a first-Test defeat in Brisbane by 10 wickets - during which the consequences of his absence for Joe Root's tourists were painfully plain to see.
