The place of his death was not shared, though the statement mentioned that he "passed away peacefully with his family by his bedside". He was 64 and had been suffering from dementia for the last three years. The Scottish-born Australian began his musical career after his older brother George, who died in October, achieved 1960s stardom with the Easybeats.

"Malcolm Young was my friend and the heart and soul of AC/DC", he continued. A band website statement said he was "a unique man". From the beginning, he always knew what he wanted to accomplish, and with his younger brother, he has conquered the music scene by giving the best of himself at every concert.

Jones had planned the meeting with the hope to halt the negotiations regarding the extension of Goodell's contract for another five years.

AC/DC - which was also co-founded by Malcolm's younger brother Angus - confirmed the sad news in a Facebook post uploaded to the site shortly after Malcolm's passing, in which they did not disclose the star's cause of death. AC/DC was as electric as its name promised, and it played the hardest straight up rock and roll around. He took great pride in all that he endeavored. It was later revealed he had been diagnosed for dementia.

"His loyalty to the fans was unsurpassed", he wrote.

Tory rebels on verge of forcing government to drop Brexit date
The Brexit Committee's intervention will bolster rebel hopes of defeating it if ministers insist on pressing ahead with a vote. Brexit Secretary David Davis said this morning that "how it's done and what the form of it is being debated in the House".

Angus Young added, "As his brother it is hard to express in words what he has meant to me during my life, the bond we had was unique and very special. He leaves behind an enormous legacy that will live on forever".

According to Rolling Stone's bio of the band, they were formed in 1973, ten years after Angus and Malcolm moved, with their family, from Scotland to Australia. The band released their debut album, High Voltage, in 1975 which featured hits like "It's a long way to the top" and "High Voltage". Legendary singer Bon Scott, who spit out the growling vocals that are still iconic today died in 1980 after a drinking binge.

Yet their music vaulted into another realm when they united with producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange - who at that point had worked mostly with British alternative acts but would later craft multiplatinum albums for Def Leppard and Shania Twain - for the 1979 album "Highway to Hell". Within three years and with vocalist Bon Scott as its frontman, AC/DC had become one of Australia's top acts, with two albums (High Voltage and T.N.T) under its belt, and the group moved to London to pursue global fame.
