On Monday, Bill Gates, Microsoft cofounder is joining the war of Alzheimer's disease and announced to personally invest $100 million in fund research to develop more treatments for the disease, as Gates said a type of dementia has struck his own family member. Today more people survive cancer than die from it and with sufficient investment in dementia research we know the same tremendous progress will be possible for people and families affected by dementia too.

"[Dementia] is a huge problem, a growing problem, and the scale of the tragedy - even for the people who stay alive - is very high", Mr. Gates told Reuters. Current medications can only ease some of the symptoms, at best.

Speaking to Reuters, Gates said he wanted to help combat the rapidly rising numbers of Alzheimer's sufferers.

At least three people reportedly were stabbed at Mall of America in Bloomington shortly before 7 p.m. on Sunday. While the Macy's store closed early, the rest of the mall, with its more than 520 stores, remained open.

He said, "It'll take probably 10 years before new theories are tried enough times to give them a high chance of success".

Years have been spent in trying to find treatments for Alzheimer's, but so far, there have been no effective therapies to halt the progression of the disease.

"I know how bad it is to watch people you love struggle as the disease robs them of their mental capacity".

Sakho, Mane star as Senegal book World Cup slot
The other two slots will be filled Saturday with north African countries Tunisia and Morocco needing draws to qualify. The Hammers striker calmly put Mane's assist into the back of the net in the 12th minute.

The investment is not part of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, but he did note that when the first Alzheimer's treatments emerge, the foundation could get involved in expanding access to these treatments in poorer countries.

According to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, 33,000 people in Nebraska have Alzheimer's or a related dementia disease.

Alongside the $50 million investment in DDF and the additional $50 million planned for start-ups, Gates said he would like to award a grant to build a global dementia data platform. He explained that all the individual data compiled by a pharmaceutical company or research lab should be available in a common form, so that groups of researchers can look for patterns and identify new pathways for treatment.
