Another major news coming out Apple is that the company is working on an augmented reality headset for the year 2019, according to yet another report by Bloomberg. The OS that the Apple AR headset would use will be specially designed, and is being referred to as the "rOS" or "reality operating system".

That new operating system, internally called "rOS" for "reality operating system", is based on iOS.

So far, Apple's publicly revealed projects include the ARKit tools that were released within iOS 11 to allow developers to create AR applications for iOS devices. Many had thought the iPhone X would have more augmented reality capability, but its key 3D sensing kit is on the front of the device to detect faces for unlocking and animation. Cook acknowledged as much in a recent interview with The Independent, when he said: "Anything you would see on the market any time soon would not be something any of us would be satisfied with". It's unclear if this device will support VR in any way, but the report does state that the company is using the HTC Vive for testing and that a device similar to Oculus and Samsung's Gear VR using iPhone components is also being used (though isn't meant to be sold). It's not clear whether the device's design is ultimately expected to resemble a headset similar to Microsoft's HoloLens or something closer to a pair of glasses.

Apple's interest in augmented reality has always been known. Magic Leap, which has been quietly working on its own augmented reality hardware, is thought to be targeting consumers instead.

The Foreign Office was aware of the visit while it was underway, but were not informed about it in advance. Ms Patel said: "This summer I travelled to Israel, on a family holiday paid for myself".

Apple's push to create an AR headset has been expansive and aggressive, according to Bloomberg. His team at Apple has drown for a few hundred engineers spread out among both of Apple's campuses in Cupertino and Sunnyvale, with several hardware and software projects being worked on. The company is also discussing using its own version of the App Store within the device so users can easily download apps they want to play or use. The team is now working on an AR device that will use the iPhone's screen, camera and processors, but notes that it will not be available for consumers. Apple is also reportedly testing different methods for controlling the headsets such as touchscreens and voice activation using Siri. They are also developing a range of apps, from messaging to mapping to 360-degree video playback.
