The Scottish Parliament has resumed its work after being evacuated over suspicious packages, the parliament's press service said Tuesday.

"It's a white powder incident, there were a couple of suspicious packages sent to a Tory (Conservative) MSP", a source at the parliament told Reuters, using the acronym for Member of the Scottish parliament.

Police say the action's been taken as a precaution.

"A lot of MSPs were in committee meetings so it was mostly staff in the building". About an hour later, they released an additional statement confirming that the incident was "resolved" and that "the MSP block has reopened". "Staff are working to assess the situation".

Emergency crew and police rushed to Holyrood in Edinburgh after the packages were discovered at around 11:30am this morning.
